Bogong Rover Chalet

The Bogong Rover Chalet is an impressive structure, built in 1940 and extended since. It is operated by the Scout Association's Rover Section (18-26 year old Scouts) to train young people in outdoor leadership and ski touring. It narrowly avoided being burnt in the 2003 fires. Due to the nature of its operation, it is the place on the high plains most likely to be able to assist a snowshoer or ski tourer in serious trouble, due to the numbers of people who have the right skills present here at any one time. There is also an emergency shelter at the south-east end of the building.

Accommodation at this lodge is available by booking only; click here for more details. Visitors should say hello to anyone visible; you will usually be invited in for a tour, which is well worthwhile.
